I was raised in a small town, and my family is very close knit. Besides me, my mom and my brothers, there were also grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins – one big family that has always believed in faith.
Around the age of 12 or 13, I decided to finally put my faith in Jesus. It was a Sunday, and I felt like it was time to get serious about God and not be going to church just to go to church. I wanted to find my own relationship with Him so I could know him for myself. I saw how my family members had a relationship and I wanted that for myself.
I’m growing more in my faith by getting into the Bible a little more every day, whether right before or after practice. I’m getting better at becoming slow to anger and more patient. I’m putting more trust on God and not relying on my natural abilities to do things. I’m also reaching out to others and telling them about Christ. Being a senior, I’m trying to get out to others who may not know Christ the way I do, explaining to them how my relationship is with Him and hoping they will seek their own relationship with God.
One of the ways we reach out at LSU to our teammates is we have a Bible study at my apartment every week. We have people from churches come and bring us a word from the Bible, and we try to bring a teammate with us every week. Hopefully they will become curious and ask questions and it will catch on with them, then to other people.
